Athagarh: At least one Kanwariya died and another sustained injury in separate incidents during offering of water at the Dhabaleshwar shrine here this morning.
As per the report, Kanwariyas in large numbers thronged the shrine to offer water to Lord Shiva on the occasion of the second Monday of holy ‘Shravana’ month starting from the early morning today when both the mishaps took place.
While offering water at the shrine one Dillip Kumar Sahoo of Keonjhar Anandpur area broke his leg after falling onto the ground. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Earlier in the morning, a Kanwariya whose identity could not have been established so far, collapsed near Paikarapur while carrying pots of water to the shrine. He died on the spot.
Police have seized the body and started investigation into the case to find out the cause of the Kanwariya’s death which is still not clear.
