Odia Shooter Sriyanka Sarangi bags gold at Hannover, Germany

Bhubaneswar: Odia shooting sensation Sriyanka Sarangi has recently brought laurel to the state as well as country as she recently won Gold medal in 10 meter Air Rifle shooting competition. She won the mixed event along with her mentor Gagan Narang at the International Shooting Competition in Hannover, Germany.

Sriyanka is the proud recipient of the prestigious Ekalabya Puraskar, the most prestigious sports award of Odisha that she had received in 2014.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Sriyanka for this great achievement.

The shooter had earlier bagged a Silver medal with Narang at the 50th Grand Prix of Liberation Shooting Competition in Plzen, Czech Republic. She had also won the mixed air rifle gold in the H&N Cup international shooting championship earlier this year.

Born in Sambalpur Sriyanka has lived in multiple places across the country due to his father’s job. Her father Colonel Sitansu Charan Sarangi is into Indian Army. Sriyanka’s mother is Sudha Sarangi.

Sriyanka is a student of Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. A has received scholarship from ONGC Limited. She has been receiving training in the sport for the last six years. At present, she is training at the Gun for Glory Academy in Pune.
