FIH Men’s Series Finals Not To Be Shifted from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Hockey India has reportedly denied any chances of shifting Kalinga Stadium as the venue for FIH Men’s Series Finals which will be held next month. Speculations of shifting the tournament have surfaced in the aftermath of cyclone Fani which has caused minor damages to the stadium.

A team of State Sports and Youth Services department along with experts of Hockey India on Tuesday has assessed the infrastructure of the hockey stadium and found minor damage. The team also observed tears at few places on the synthetic turf.

Officials of Sports department has also assured of carrying out necessary repairs before the scheduled time to facilitate the hosting of the tournament.

The participating eight countries in the event include India, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia, South Africa, USA and Uzbekistan. The matches are scheduled from June 6 to June 15.
