IPL Auction 2024: Pat Cummins becomes most expensive player in the history of the league

Australia's World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins has become the most expensive player in the history of IPL auction.

Dubai: Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins has become the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premiere League (IPL) auction. The cricketer has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad Rs 20.50 crores.

In the ongoing auction for IPL 2024, Harshal Patel is the second expensive player so far. He is bough by Punjab Kings at Rs 11. Crores. Meanwhile, Rovman Powell is sold to Rajasthan Royals for a price tag of Rs 7 crore and 40 lakh.  Australia’s World Cup star Travis Head was purchased up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 6.8 crore.

Taking the first purchase, Mumbai Indians bought Gerald Coetzee from South Africa at Rs 5 crores. Harry Brook was picked up for Rs 4 crore by Delhi Capitals.

Earlier, Sam Curran was the most expensive player in IPL auction after being bought at Rs 18.50 crores in 2023 by Punjab Kings.

Gujarat Titans have the most amount available ahead of the auction with Rs 38.15 crores, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad with Rs 34 crores. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings have Rs 32.7 crores and Rs 31.4 crores respectively. Lucknow Super Giants have the lowest available purse with Rs 13.15 crores along with Mumbai Indians who have Rs 17.75 crores and Rajasthan Royals who have Rs 14.5 crores.
