Watch: Lioness hugs caretaker as the cage opens; emotional video wins hearts
Lionesses are known for their fierce huntress pride, but those in zoos, don’t have to hunt for food for a living. as a result, they become friendlier to people, especially with the ones who take care of them. In the light of it, a heartwarming video of a man and his pet lioness is going viral as their friendship wins hearts on the Internet.
The man, identified as Val Gruener, is actually a caretaker of the lioness named Sirga at a reserve in the Kalahari desert of Botswana (Southern Africa). Val has been raising the lioness for the last nine years, growing up together they share a very unbreakable bond. The caretaker often shares photos of him and Sirga on Instagram and also has a separate account for the being named ‘sirgathelioness.’ Sirga’s account has 79k followers so far.
The viral video was also uploaded on the lioness’ separate Instagram account with the caption, “Kalahari catwalk.” In the video, the big cat can be seen jumping on Val to hug him as soon as he opens the gate of her cage. They can also be seen sitting and chilling together in the desert.
