Jajpur: A ward member has reportedly been attacked in Jajpur district of Odisha. The incident took place in the Kanikapada panchayat under Mangalpur Police limits.
The victim ward member has been identified as Naresh Rout. And the accused has been identified as Rabi Sethi.
As per reports, Rabi Sethi allegedly attacked Naresh when the later was returning home after participating in the Agni Utsav. Rabi allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon. Accordingly, he sustained grave injury in his head and hand. The accused then fled from the scene.
After witnessing the incident the locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victim youth. They then rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Mangalpur. After preliminary treatment he was then shifted to Jajpur district head quarter hospital. As his health condition further deteriorated, he was then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
After getting information Mangalpur Thana Police in Jajpur district swung into action. Further investigation of the case is underway while the culprit is still at large.
