Viral obscene video of MP candidate: Keonjhar police takes Prashant Mishra on 2-day remand

Keonjhar: Keonjhar police on Wednesday took Prashant Mishra, one of the accused involved in uploading an obscene video on social media platforms alleged to be that of Keonjhar Lok Sabha candidate Chandrani Murmu, on a two-day remand.

Police took Prashant on a remand, following the court’s permission, to interrogate and extract more leads in the case.

Mishra, a Web Portal Journalist, was arrested by Keonjhar police from Bhubaneswar on April 15. Earlier, three persons namely Chinmay Senapati of Bhadrak, Jaydev Giri of Dhenkikote village and Bishnudutta Barik of Suakati village were arrested for posting the video on social media which later went viral.

The accused were arrested by the cops after Chandrani’s relative Soubhagya Soren lodged an FIR with the Town police.

Police are said to have registered a case under section 292-A, 354-A, 500, 509, 465, 469, 120-B, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 66D, 67 and 67-A of Information Technology Act, 2000.
