Tapaswini-Sumit marital discord: Wife spends night outside husband’s home after court’s order

Berhampur: In today’s development in the ongoing Berhampur marital discord case of Tapaswini Dash and Sumit Sahu, she had to spend last night in the verandah of the house on Tuesday after she was allegedly denied the room of her husband.

Reportedly, Sumit’s family did not allow Tapaswini to live inside the house in the bedroom as she complained that the store room was not suitable for a woman to stay.

Earlier on Tuesday, District Court gave a nod to Tapaswini to start living at Sumit’s house following which he has decided to move to Orissa High Court challenging the order.

The Court also said that she is entitled to receive interim maintenance of Rs. 17,000 from Sumit per month.

The cases lodged in the District Court separately by Tapaswini and Sumit were heard together. Sumit had challenged against the verdicts of the SDJM Court issued on December 2 and December 9 in the upper Court. Similarly, Tapaswini had challenged the verdict issued on December 20 through her advocate.

It is to be noted that Tapaswini was protesting in front of her in-laws’ house for the last 44 days. After protesting in front of the house for some days, with the help of some local women she got entry to the Veranda of the house. Since then she was protesting in the veranda along with social activists.
