Centurion: South Africa beat India by 135 runs in the second Test here on Wednesday to seal the on-going Freedom Series 2-0.
Chasing the victory target of 287, India were bundled out of 151 on the final day. Rohit Sharma (47) and M Shami (28) stitched together a 53-run partnership, while other wickets fell on regular basis.
For South Africa, debutant Lungi Ngidi, emerged as the pick of the bowler, taking 6 wickets for 39 runs in the second innings. He received the Man of the Match award.
In the first innings, India had posted 307, in reply to 335 made by the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Indian Captain Virat Kohli said, “It’s the batsmen who have let the team down again. The thinking it very simple, I wanna leave everything on the field. The 150 means nothing now that we’ve lost the series,”
The Proteas had won the first Test at Cape Town by 72 runs.
