Sambalpur: The new born baby that had fallen into a deep bore well in Sambalpur district of Odisha has been rescued. The incident took place at the Sriram field near Laripali village under Rengali Police limits.

It is to be noted that today afternoon, a new-born baby was traced deep in an abandoned bore well near Laripali. It was alleged that a woman abandoned and threw the chid in the bore well after delivering it and fled from the scene.

After the local people came to know about this, they immediately informed and soon fire brigade, police and health department officials arrived at the spot. Soon rescue operation was started to save the child.

Oxygen was being supplied inside the borewell. As many as three JCB machines were engaged to dig the soil so that the rescuers could reach near the trapped child. The ODRAF team carried out the rescue operation.

Police, medical team and the fire fighters were alert at the spot and finally the new born baby was rescued.

Update:

After digging through JCB machines, the rescuers then manually dug the soil to reach near the pipe where the child was trapped. Then, they cut the pipe and finally the new-born was rescued. It was an eight-hour long tough rescue operation.

Following the rescue, the new-born is now being shifted to VIMSAR, Burla in green corridor for treatment.
