Record rainfall in Bhubaneswar since August 1952, informs IMD

It is worth mentioning that there has been record rainfall in Bhubaneswar since August 1952, that is in 71 years.

According to reports, the rainfall has surpassed a 71-year old record, informed the
India Meteorological Department (IMD). It further clarified that Bhubaneswar has received the highest August rainfall since 1952.

It is worth noting that red warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall for August 2, 2023 (tomorrow) of as high as (7 to 20 cm) at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

An orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) which is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Balasore.

The extremely heavy rainfall in the capital city of Odisha has left people in a complete state of shock and confusion.

The BMC has been forced to use boats in Bhubaneswar to rescue people from various low-lying parts of the city said reliable reports on Tuesday.

In various areas of Bhubaneswar, motors are being used to remove water. Dewatering process is underway at 17 locations of Bhubaneswar city, said the BMC.
