Rainfall to continue in state for next 4 days, Orange warning issued to 5 districts

The Meteorological department  has issued an orange warning for five districts in view of very heavy rainfall in the next four days.

Bhubaneswar: Areas of Northern Odisha continue to experience rainfall due to an active low pressure over the Northern Bay of Bengal. Due to this, rainfall is likely to continue in state for the next four days.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely to be experienced in several areas of the state over the estimated period of four days. However, some areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall as well. These areas might experience very heavy rainfall ranging from 12 cm to 20 cm.

The Meteorological department  has issued an orange warning for five districts in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the forthcoming days. These districts include Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri. Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued to 16 districts for moderate to heavy rainfall within the next four days.

The ongoing Odisha monsoon has experienced a deficit in the average amount of rainfall by 12 percent. An average of 475.5 mm has been recorded since June 1, which is less than the expected average rainfall of 539.2 mm. While two districts of the state have experienced very heavy rainfall, 12 districts have received normal rainfall. Additionally, 12 districts, so far, have experienced moderate rainfall. Coastal Odisha has mainly witnessed light to moderate showers during this period.
