Rainfall in Odisha to continue for next four days, yellow warning issued to seven districts

The seven districts with a yellow warning are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall today, Rains to continue till July 12.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is currently experiencing an active monsoon season, with rainfall expected to continue for the next four days across various locations. The weather department has issued a yellow warning in seven districts for today. These districts are Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall is likely to take place within these districts. The meteorological department has estimated rains to continue till July 12. Starting from June 01, the state has received an average of 227.2 mm of rainfall. This is around 24 percent less than the normal average of 286.8 mm.

Among all districts, Deogarh has recorded the highest amount of rainfall of 431.5 mm. Kalahandi, on the other hand, has experienced the least amount of rainfall of around 123.5 mm. So far, only 15 districts of the state have received normal rainfall, with 11 districts facing a deficit. Despite the ongoing rains, their impact has been very limited.

The weather department had earlier predicted a good amount of rainfall for the month of July. It is yet to be seen how the anticipated rainfall with lessen the rainfall deficiency of this Odisha monsoon season.
