Panchayat Poll Violence: Bombs hurled at Narasinghpur sarpanch candidate’s house

Cuttack: Bombs have been hurled at Kathakhuntu panchayat sarpanch candidate’s house late on Sunday night ahead of three-tier panchayat election in Odisha.

According to sources, some unidentified hurled the explosives at the house of sarpanch candidate, Sushil Mallik.

As a result, the asbestos of the house and items of furniture have been damaged.

On getting the information, the local police arrived at Kathakhuntu village and initiated an investigation into the matter.

No injury or casualty has been reported in this connection as of now.

In a similar incident on Saturday night, another Sarpanch candidate of Badalu gram panchayat under Zone 1 of Odapada Block, Nrusingha Barik, was brutally attacked by miscreants. His wife had alleged that some masked men belonging to an opposition group attacked Barik with batons and sharp weapons near Ghodadian village.

He sustained serious injuries and is admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).
