Political violence in Odisha: Supporters of two Sarpanch candidates clash

Keonjhar: Political violence in the wake of panchayat elections once again took place in Odisha. This time supporters of two Sarpanch candidates fought between each other in Joda block of Keonjhar district. The incident took place in Thakurani village near Garuda area under Balada panchayat.

As per reports, members of the two groups pelted stones on each other at late night on Sunday. A number of vehicles, Auto-rickshaws and four wheelers got damaged in the fight. However, nobody from both the groups sustained any injury.

On the other hand, it has been complained that some people of Buru Hating under Bhadrasahi panchayat in Joda block have been brutally beaten.

The victim residents of Hating walked on feet about 7 km and reached the Police Station to lodge the complaint. They have alleged that the miscreants manhandled them after compelling them to cast vote in a certain election symbol.

In this case, reportedly on Sunday night a group of people lured the villagers to cast vote for a certain candidate. Some youths protested it and thus tension. It has been complained that even some women were also faced attack as they protested against it. The Hating villagers have demanded strict action against the culprits.
