Over Rs 30 lakh loss in share market drives Odisha man to suicide

Balasore: A Jaleswar-based man committed suicide by hanging himself on Thursday after he incurred huge losses in the share market. The unfortunate incident took place in Sardarsahi village under Baliapal police limits in the Balasore district.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Das. He was working as a clerk in a nearby society office and lived with his wife, old-aged mother, and son.

Reportedly, Santosh did not sleep with his wife and son last night and went to another room. Later when he did not come out of his room this morning, his family broke the door and found him hanging.

On getting the information, Baliapal police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. The cops sent the body for autopsy and filed a case.

It is pertinent to mention that before committing suicide Santosh wrote a note addressing his wife in his personal diary.

“Sujata, please wait till my mother is living and don’t leave my house. Everything will be fine after a year, so don’t worry. God is there with you and you will never suffer. I couldn’t take this anymore, so I decided to end this once and for all. If anybody comes and asks for money, note down their names and pay them back their money after two years. Never borrow money from anyone like me and look after my child. Okay. Bye. All the details are saved on my mobile phone. You will receive Rs 30,000 monthly after a year. Ask Niranjan Mukhi about it. I am responsible for my death,” the letter read.

The police has initiated an investigation based on the suicide note recovered from his room.

Notably, Santosh took a loan of mover Rs 30 lakhs and invested it in the online share market hoping to become a millionaire overnight. However, he was always under constant mental pressure about repaying the money because of the frequent loss. Unfortunately, he chose to end his life.
