OSDA Chairman Subroto Bagchi calls on CM Naveen Patnaik, briefs about progress of Super Speciality Cancer Hospital Project

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) Chairman Subroto Bagchi met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence today.

Bagchi reportedly briefed Patnaik about the progress of the Super Speciality Cancer Hospital project during the meeting. Dr. B. S. Srinath, Managing Trustee, Shankara Cancer Foundation and Odisha 5T secretary VK Pandian were present during the meeting.

In his discussion with the CM, the OSDA Chairman said that the construction work of the Super Speciality Cancer Hospital is underway despite the COVID pandemic.

People are given the training to work in the Super Speciality Cancer Hospital which is likely to become functional from Rath Yatra in 2023, he informed.

He said that the 750-bedded Super Speciality Cancer Hospital will have all the latest world-class machines, equipment and facilities.

Subroto Bagchi also informed the CM that people in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar who are in the last stage of cancer are given treatment at their doorsteps.

It is to be noted here that the Odisha government had on April 14, 2021signed two MoUs for two state-of-the-art cancer care centres in Bhubaneswar.

The first MoU was signed for Bagchi-Sri Shankar Cancer Centre & Research Institute by the State Government, Susmita Bagchi and Shankar Cancer Foundation.

The second MoU was inked for Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre by the State Government, Smt Susmita Bagchi and Karunashraya Hospice Trust. The 100-bedded Centre will provide high-quality palliative care, peace and dignity to patients in their last few days.
