Cuttack: One girl died and five others sustained injuries after a Scorpio vehicle hit an ambulance on NH 16 near Tangi late last night. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
Police said that the ambulance was carrying a patient from Bengal and was on its way to a Bhubaneswar based private hospital. The Scorpio vehicle, however, hit the ambulance from the rear.
As a result of which all six passengers travelling in the Scorpio vehicle were injured. One of the victims died on her way to the SCB Medical College.
Police later rushed to the spot and rescued all victims. Police also shifted then to the SCB Medical College and Hospital while making an alternative arrangement for the patient in the ambulance. Police have also seized both the vehicles and have started an investigation.
