Puri: Today a short while ago, an Odisha vigilance raid on Accountant in the office of the Block Education Officer in Puri district has been conducted.
Reports say, Bikash Kumar Senapati has been identified as an Accountant in the Office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) in Puri district. He has been apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000/- from a Complainant.
The complainant is a retired teacher. The bribe had been demanded for the issue of NOC to release his gratuity. The teacher had retired from government service in May-2022. Since his retirement, he had been requesting Senapati, Accountant to issue NOC in his favour to get his gratuity.
However Senapati, Accountant was demanding bribe Rs.5000/- to issue NOC in favour of the retired teacher. Finding no other way, he(retired teacher) informed about his harassment to the Vigilance Authority.
Accordingly, Odisha vigilance raid on accountant Senapati, the accountant was nabbed by the Vigilance team today, while accepting demanded bribe Rs.5,000/- from the retired teacher. The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Senapati .
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Senapati from DA angle. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case no 4/2024 u/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Senapati, Accountant. Earlier in August 2023, Ajaya Khuntia an Accountant– cum- supporting staff, (Contractual)in the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Saintala, in Bolangir district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance.
The Accountant was caught while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Thousand) from a Complainant.
The complainant is (an Assistant Teacher) for processing the file of NPS ( National Pension Scheme) work and release of pending arrear DA (Dearness Allowance, recently released by the Govt. ) in favour of him and other teachers.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Khuntia and seized.
