Odisha Municipal Election Results 2022: Counting Of Votes Delayed In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes for the Odisha Municipal Election was delayed by over two hours today due to the tension reported at BJB College last evening due to a clash after an attempted intrusion into the strong room.
Reportedly, supporters of different candidates were present near the ‘Strong Room’ in BJB College in Bhubaneswar. In the meantime, a youth allegedly attempted to enter the restricted zone of the Strong Room where the EVMs of the voting for Odisha Urban election was kept.
Some people created ruckus and had a scuffle with the cops deployed on the spot. Later, police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse the angry people and take control of the situation.
More police forces were deployed following the incident. Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das rushed to the spot, following which cops conducted a flag march around the Strong Room.
The counting of votes is underway in the capital city now and after completion of round 1 of counting of votes in BMC, BJD’s candidate Sulochana Das is leading followed by BJP candidate Suniti Mund, and Congress Candidate Madhusmita Acharya.
