Cuttack: Taking a serious note of malpractice allegations during the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Tuesday cancelled the English exam conducted at three exam centres.
Speaking to the newsmen, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said, “The English exam was conducted successfully on February 25. However, based on the reports provided by the district education officers, the second language exam in Ghunusar Govt High School in Balangir, Palaspitha PR High School in Dhenkanal and Gopinathpur Krupasindhu Nodal High School in Cuttack district has been cancelled over malpractice allegations.”
“The examination committee will decide whether it was a mass malpractice, or all the students will be failed. However, as of now it is decided that the English exam conducted in these centres has been cancelled,” she added.
On answering who will be responsible for the mass malpractice, Begum said, “Members of the examination committee will study the entire matter and will find out who are involved in it and who will be held responsible for the same.”
There will be no re-exam for the same subject and other exams will continue in the same exam centres as per the schedule, she clarified.
Stringent action will be taken if such case is repeated, said the BSE president.
It is worthwhile to mention here that several locals including parents of some students had barged into the exam centres and provided copies to the examinees on February 25.
