Odisha: Hirakud dam opens 2 sluice gates

Sambalpur: In view of the possible rain in the upper catchment area, two sluice gates of Hirakud Dam have been opened at 4 pm today.

Taking into account the rising water level at the reservoir due and due to heavy rain expected in the upper catchment area. The Hirakud dam authorities opened two more sluice gates on Wednesday to release the possible flood waters.

Reportedly, the flood water is being released from a total of two sluice gates, said reliable reports on Wednesday.

The Hirakud dam released this season’s floodwater into Mahanadi river through two sluice gates. The people in the low lying areas have been warned not to venture into the river bed.

According to reliable reports, one gate has been opened on each side of the dam. Detailed reports awaited in this regard.
