Odisha Govt Extends Free Treatment To Road Accident Victims In Three Private Hospitals
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today decided to provide free treatment to road mishap victims at three private hospitals with L1 (Level -1) trauma care facilities in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
In the initial phase, three privately-run hospitals – Apollo Hospital and AMRI in Bhubaneswar and Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack – have been asked to give free treatment to road accident victims.
“The state government will bear the medical expenses of accident victims for 48 hours after their admission into these three hospitals,” said Health Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda.
Officials said that the scheme will be rolled out in the three hospitals on a pilot basis and subsequently it will be extended to other cities like Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
“For reimbursement of the treatment cost Rs 4 crore has been provided to the state Health and Family Welfare department out of the Odisha Road Safety Fund.
