Bhubaneswar: A day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the appointment of 938 MBBS doctors, the Odisha government appointed 622 more contractual doctors on Friday.
Informing about the appointment of the doctors, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in it twitter handle said, “CM @Naveen_Odisha approved appointment of 622 more MBBS doctors after appointing 938 on Thursday to further augment healthcare delivery to remotest part of #Odisha. Welcoming the new doctors, he called them to work with complete dedication to provide better service to people.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister welcomed the newly appointed doctors and hoped that they will provide quality healthcare to poorest of poor in farthest part of the state.

With this, the state government appointed 1560 doctors in two days. Patnaik had given his nod for the posting of 938 doctors yesterday, which was the highest appointment of doctors at one go in the state. As many as 784 doctors, out of 938, have been posted in Community Health Centres (CHCs) and 135 doctors in Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
The appointment of 622 more doctors today has taken the number of doctors in the state to 6329 against the sanctioned strength of 6719.
