Bhubaneswar: The Naveen Patnaik government on Friday hiked four per cent dearness allowance (DA) for all the State government employees.

The hike in dearness allowance will be applicable retrospectively that is from July 1, 2023. (01.07. 2023).

It is noteworthy that ahead of Durga Puja, the Odisha government on Friday announced a major hike in dearness allowance (DA) for the state government employees.

According to the latest notification, the dearness allowance has been hiked by 4 (four) percent.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday approved the proposal for hike in the dearness allowance for the state government employees.

With this, the dearness allowance of the employees has been increased to 46 percent from existing 42 percent.

It is worth mentioning that on October 18 the Union Cabinet cleared a 4 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for central government employees and pensioners, in what may come as a Puja gift for them.

With this decision, the DA for central government employees will increase to 46 per cent from the existing 42 per cent.

The cabinet, which met earlier in the day, is learnt to have cleared the decision, sources said.

The approved DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2023. The last hike in DA was effected in March 2023.

The cabinet is also learnt to have cleared the proposal of hiking the minimum support price (MSP) for six Rabi crops, including wheat and Red Lentil (Masur) by up to 7 per cent, sources informed further.
