Odisha farmer grows world’s costliest mango worth Rs 2.5 lakh

Bhubaneswar: In one of its kind, a farmer of Odisha’s Bargarh district has succeeded in growing one of the costliest kinds of mango in the world.

This mango, known as Miyazaki Mango, is sold in the market at the rate of lakhs of rupees per kg.

One Chandru Satya Narayan (50) of Nilathar village in Bargarh started growing this mango and he successfully grew this expensive mango variety in an organic way.

Generally, this variety of mango is sold for Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per kg.

However, Satya Narayan has appealed to the Odisha government to sell his grown mangoes. He has also been honored for his achievement.

It is to be noted that Satya has not completed his formal education. Satya lives in Neelathar village, 130 km from Bargarh district headquarters.

Around three years back, Satyanarayan learned about this mango breed from his friend and planted saplings of the mango breed after importing it from Bangladesh.

It is pertinent to mention that the ruby-hued mango got its name from southern Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture, where it was originally grown.
