Odisha: Ex-Inspector of police and GRS convicted in bribery cases
An Ex-Inspector of police and Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) were convicted and awarded rigorous imprisonment in the bribery cases filed against them separately.
Bhubaneswar: An Ex-Inspector of police and Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) were convicted and awarded rigorous imprisonment in the bribery cases filed against them separately.
According to reports, Pandaba Mahala, the GRS (Disengaged from service), of Ghantapada GP under Kantamal Block of Boudh district was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 7 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018.
Mahala was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No.29 dtd.21.10.2019 U/s 7 P.C. Likewise, Tapan Kumar Padhy, Ex-Inspector of police (Retired), attached to DCRB, Ganjam, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur TR No.35/2006 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988 for possession of disproportionate assets, was convicted by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.
The Court sentenced Tapan Kumar Padhy, Ex-Inspector of police to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs 10,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Tapan Kumar Padhy, Ex-Inspector of police (Retired) following his conviction.
