Bhubaneswar: Saluga Pradhan files nomination for Odisha Deputy Speaker elections scheduled to be held on November 21, 2023. He will be a candidate for BJD, said reports.
Odisha Deputy Speaker elections are scheduled to take place on 21 November 2023 that is Tuesday at 9:30 am, said reliable reports.
In a letter addressed to the members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, the OSD-Cum-Secretary has intimated the date and time of the Odisha Deputy Speaker elections.
The letter read as follows, “I am directed to inform you that as per provisions contained in Art. 178 of the Constitution of India read with Rule 7(1) and Rule 7(4) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Speaker has been pleased to fix the 21 November, 2023(Tuesday) 09.30AM for election of Deputy Speaker.”
The letter further mentioned that, “For the purpose, a meeting of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will be held 21.11.2023(Tuesday) at 09.30 AM in the Assembly Hall, Bhubaneswar.”
“The notice of motion for election of Deputy Speaker addressed to the Secretary, Odisha Legislative Assembly may be given in conformity with the provisions…” further read the letter.
It is worth mentioning here that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) member and Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Rajanikant Singh has resigned from his position on November 8, 2023.
Angul MLA Rajanikant Singh resigned from the post of Deputy Speaker. There is a lot of talk about getting a big responsibility in BDJ for the upcoming elections.
Rajankanth Singh has been a four-time MLA, said reliable reports. Since 2004, Rajinikanth has been winning consecutive assembly seats.
He has been working as the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly since June 2019. The winter session of the Assembly is going to start from next month. Before that, the resignation of the deputy speaker points at something big. It is to be seen who will be the next Deputy Speaker from BJD.
