Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy To Retire Today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy will retire today. He will take charge as the Chairman of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) after his retirement.

Apart from taking over as the Chairman of WODC, Tripathy will also have the additional charge of Advisor to Chief Minister on Regional development, Tourism, Agribusiness and Industry.

Odisha government had appointed the 1986-batch IAS officer as the Chief Secretary of the State on August 19, 2019.

The biggest challenge during Tripathy’s tenure as Chief Secretary was the management of COVID-19 in the State. However, he successfully handled the situation.

Tripathy successfully carried out his responsibility during his long period as an administrator. Besides, several important projects have been started by him. This includes the heritage corridor in Puri, megaproject for Ekamra Kshetra under which the area around Lingaraj Temple will be redeveloped, project to develop SCB Medical College and Hospital into AIIMS Plus institute.

The State government has appointed 1986-IAS officer Suresh Chandra Mohapatra as the new chief secretary to succeed Asit Tripathy.
