Odisha: Begunia market in Khurda closed indefinitely

In protest of the lack of the health services in Begunia block of Khurda district in Odisha the Begunia market has been closed indefinitely.

Khurda: In protest of the lack of the health services in Begunia block of Khurda district in Odisha the Begunia market in Khurda has been closed indefinitely.

According to reports, the market has been closed for an indefinite period over the demand of a  Community Health Centre (CHC).

It is worth mentioning that, the locals has staged a protest for 50 days, but since their demands were not met, they were forced  to close down the market.

The members of Swasthya Kriyanusthan committee have observed the bandh by blocking the  Khordha – Bolangir National Highway that is NH No. 57.  Hundreds of women and men from the surrounding areas joined the blockade and supported the bandh.

Vehicular movement on the National Highway has been disrupted due to the bandh, said reliable reports on Monday.

This extreme step has been taken after a peaceful protest in front of Begunia Health Center for 50 days. The protestors said that the protest will continue until their demands are met.

A detailed report in this matter is awaited. It is expected that normalcy will return soon in the area.
