No testing is required if don’t have symptoms even after coming in contact with COVID patient: Odisha Public Health Director

Bhubaneswar: No testing is required if don’t have symptoms even after coming in contact with a COVID patient, informed Public Health Director Dr. Niranjan Mishra on Saturday.

While giving his statement over the COVID guideline issued by the Union Government, Mishra said that as per Centre’s guidelines, people do not need to go for testing if they do not have any COVID symptoms even after coming in contact with a positive patient.

All the districts and the concerned officials have been informed about this by the Health Department of the State, Mishra said.

He further said that out of about 61,000 active cases in the State, only 1100 are hospitalised as on today, which means below 2 per cent people need hospitalisation. As many as 300 COVID patients have been put in the ICU for treatment, he added.

“Antibiotic for viral flu is not needed,” he said while advising people not to take medicines unnecessarily.
