Baripada: As many as nine Under Trial Prisoners (UTPs) of Keonjhar district jail in Odisha have tested Covid positive.
The authorities of jail have sanitized the entire prison premises.
One of the jail inmate developed Covid symptoms and undergo RT-PCR test. After he tested positive swab of 30 prisoners were sent for Covid-19 testing who came in close contact with him. Out of the 30, nine tested positive, informed the jailor.
All the infected prisoners have been kept in a separate barrack and are being treated. Those who require medical observation will be shifted to the Covid hospital,added the jailor.
Earlier, on May 10, 21 under trial prisoners tested Covid positive at Udala sub-jail in Mayurbhanj district and the entire jail premises have been sanitised.
