Nabarangpur: IDBI Bank Branch Manager arrested on charges of Rs 1cr fraud

Nabarangpur Town police today arrested the Branch Manager of IDBI Bank’s Nabarangpur branch on charges of Rs 1cr fraud and forwarded him to the court.

The accused Nabarangpur IDBI Bank Branch Manager has been identified as Anjan Satpathy.

Swarup Dutta, the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the IDBI Bank had filed a case at Nabarangpur Town Police station after knowing about the fraud.

In his complaint, Dutta had alleged that Anjan Satpathy had taken Rs 1 Crore from the vault of the bank that was collected on December 1 and December 2 saying he would deposit the money in the Currency Chest of the SBI (State Bank of India). However, he had not deposited the cash.

The matter came to light only during inspection on December 15, following which the bank employees apprised Dutta about the shortage of Rs 1 Crore. Later, Dutta investigated the matter by visiting the Nabarangpur Branch of the IDBI Bank. Thereafter he filed the police complaint.

Based on his complaint, the Nabarangpur Town police registered a case under number 523/23 and detained Anjan Satpathy for interrogation.

After knowing about his involvement in the fraud during the questioning, police arrested Anjan Satpathy and forwarded him to the court.
