Mayurbhanj: The Jashipur police of Odisha have arrested two people today who were involved in a murder that took place on December 15 2020. The incident took place near Jamnalia in Raruan block of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.

The accused have been identified as 21-year-old Sharat Murmu and his 20-year-old brother Bhola Murmu.

It is to be noted here that a dead body was found lying in an abandoned well on Odisha-Jharkhand border in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. The deceased has been identified as Jaipal, who is said to be the uncle of the accused.

The two brothers killed their uncle by smothering with a stole due to a family dispute in Jharkhand. Later they brought his body to Odisha and threw it into the abandoned well.

Jaipal’s body was lying in the well for two consecutive days as it was not clear whether the area belonged to Odisha or Jharkhand. However, the Amins of Odisha and Jharkhand identified and demarcated the border in the presence of police of the two states following which it came to be known that the area belonged to Jashipur town of Odisha.

Meanwhile, the police has forwarded the accused brothers to the court.
