Malkangiri: Maoists gunned down a tribal man branding him as a ‘police informer’ near Dhakodrasi village of Mathili block in Odisha’s Malkangiri district last night.
The victim has been identified as Ananta Ram Bhumia. He, a member of Bhumia tribe, was resident of Barubeda village under Mathili police limits in the district.
According to reports, two persons had come to the village and called Bhumia to accompany them as to enjoy a cultural programme held at nearby village.
However, Bhumia was taken to Dhakadarashi, about 10-15 km away from the village, where around 20-25 armed Maoists were present on the spot. Later, the Maoists conducted a ‘praja court’ and gunned down Bhumia marking him as a police informer.
Meanwhile, Police have launched a massive search and combing operation in the area to nab the ultras.
