Man hacked to death by brother-in-law for protesting second marriage

Bhadrak: A man was hacked to death by none other than his brother-in-law over a family feud over protesting the second marriage of the latter.

Body of the deceased identified as Sakim Khan (28) was found lying on the banks of Salandi River this morning.

After the news spread in the village Sakim’s relatives accused the hand of his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Sheikh Bhalu in the incident and attacked his house and torched it. Later the mob also set an auto-rickshaw of the accused afire.

Teams of both Puruna Bazar and Bhadrak Rural Police reached the spot and pacified the mob.

Police said the accused Sheikh Bhalu who is married to the deceased’s sister had married another girl a few days ago. A dispute occurred between him and Sakim over the issue as the latter opposed the second marriage. It is suspected that the dispute could have led to the crime.

An investigation is underway in the incident and no arrest has been made in connection with it so far.
