Man dies after tree falls on him amid heavy rains in Bhubaneswar

Heavy to heavy rains lashed twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Monday evening and a man lost his life after a tree fell on him

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to heavy rains lashed twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Monday evening and a man lost his life after a tree fell on him between Nalco Chhak and Rail Sadan in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Tutu Maharana, a resident of Sikharchandi.

As the capital city was hit by heavy downpurs, large trees broke down and fell on various roads of Bhubaneswar. The fire tenders reached and cleared the road by cutting the trees.

BMC along with fire personnels were engaged to rescue people from their houses after rainwater had entered. People at Rajeev Nagar, Aignia were rescued by boats and they were kept at schools and were provided with food and water.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall warning for the following districts of Odisha for today.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Sundargarh, Cuttack and Balasore, the Meteorological Centre predicted and issued Orange Warning for these districts.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Nuapada, the Meteorological Centre added and issued Yellow Warning for these districts.
