Phulbani: A man hacked his wife to death over a verbal duel in Pada Sahi under Padangi panchayat under Sarangad police limits in Kandhamal district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sudaya Nayak.
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between Sudaya and his husband and the accused Prashant Nayak late last night after the later returned home in an inebriated condition. Later, as the argument escalated further Prashant took out an axe and hacked his wife brutally.
The victim bled profusely and died on the spot.
Sarangad Police rushed to the spot after getting intimation on the incident later and arrested the accused.
“The couple used to quarrel over petty domestic issues regularly and we suspected it took an ugly turn last night. However, the matter is under investigation and truth will be revealed soon,” said Sarangada IIC Subhalaxmi Pujari.
