Balasore: In a shocking incident, a man has hacked his wife to death over a family feud in Kamarda area in Balasore district late last night.
The accused has been identified as Kamalakant Rana, a resident of Hirapur village of East Midnapur of neighbouring West Bengal State and a utensil trader by profession.
The incident took place at around 12.30 am last night soon after a verbal duel erupted between Kamalakant and his wife Dolly over certain issues. As the argument escalated further later, the accused took out a billhook in a fit of rage and attacked the victim brutally.
Though Dolly ran out of her home in a bid to save her life following the attack, Kamalakant chased her in the streets of the village and hacked mercilessly.
Locals rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police have seized the body for autopsy and detained the accused for interrogation.
