Main Accused In Choudwar Temple Theft Case Arrested

Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Saturday have cracked a mystery behind the temple theft case at Choudwar with the arrest of the main accused and his associates at Purighat in Cuttack district.

The accused has been identified as Bipra Kesahi Samantaray alias Hari, son of Ramesh Chandra Samantaray of Pentha village in Kendrapara district.

As per complaint lodged on November 18,2020 some unidentified miscreants barged into the temple and looted two pairs of gold eye, two pairs of gold chita, two pairs of gold chud, one gold mangalsutra, foutr silver crowns, one silver padma necklace, two anta bicha, one brass mukha, brass utensils, two brass ghanta and one gold tongue and one pair of silver anklets and some cash that were in the Hundi of the Dakhineswar Temple at Thermal road in Choudwar.

During investigation, the main accused Hari was absconding and the police were in continous search of him. Finally Hari and his associates were arrested today in Cuttack and were court forwarded to the SDJM, Court.

During interrogation, he admitted about his involvement regarding two theft case under Choudwar police station and they also recovered . One Gold Mangalsutra, Five silver crown, one silver Padma necklace, one silver anta bicha, four silver earrings, three brass saucers, three brass pitchers, two brass glass and two small brass plates from his possession.
