Low pressure formed over BOB, heavy rain predicted in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure has been formed over  the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts, informed the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

It is likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand during the next 2-3 days.

The weather office further said that another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 18.

The low pressure will gradually intensify into a depression and subsequently into deep depression by the evening of July 20 or forenoon of July 21.

Under its influence, light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells is likely to continue up to July 19 over coastal Odisha, north Odisha and western Odisha districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur over coastal, central and interior districts of the state between July 20 and 22.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Deogarh, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Bargarh.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 18.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Nuapada.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.
