Kunduli Case: NHRC team begins investigation

Koraput: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team which arrived here today, began its investigation in the Kunduli gang rape and suicide incident.

The five-member NHRC team headed by DSP Ravi Singh held a high-level meeting at Koraput Circuit House in the presence of Child Protection Officer, ASP, IICs of Semiliguda and Koraput police stations.

The members of the human rights body from Visakhapatnam are slated to visit the victim’s family in Musaguda tomorrow. They will meet the villagers and local politicians between February 7 and 9.

“The NHRC team will meet the family members of the victim along with the doctor who treated her, investigating officer and Counsellor,” said DSP Ravi Singh.

It is worthwhile to mention that a three-member BJP central team led by Mahila Morcha national general secretary Saroj Pandey visited the village and conducted an on-spot probe into the incident. They met the kin of the deceased minor girl, who was allegedly gang raped by four persons in uniform on October 10, 2017.

This apart, they held discussion with the local police and administration. The team will submit probe report to party’s national president Amit Shah.
