Kharasrota river drowning tragedy: Sixth body fished out

Jajpur: The death toll of Kharasrota river drowning tragedy rose to six as the rescue operation team comprising of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and firefighters fished out yet another body this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Nayak.

Yesterday, five bodies were recovered from the Kharasrota river with the help of the ODRAF team.

It is to be noted here that a group of youth went to take bath in the river near Badasuar Bandhamunda ghat in Jajpur after playing Holi on Saturday. As they were taking a bath in the river, they noticed that one of them is drowning in the river. In a bid to rescue,  one by one all of them drowned. However, six of them went missing after drowning in the river.

The firefighters and ODRAF team with the help of local people carried out search operations to trace them.

A pal of gloom has descended the entire village after the death of six boys.
