Jaleswar BDO arrested, forwarded to court for accumulating property of more than 450 per cent of his income

Bhubaneswar: Ashwini Kumar Das, BDO of Jaleswar was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance in Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets worth approx Rs 5 Crore, which is more than 450 per cent of his source of income.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.36 dt.19.06.2022 was registered against Ashwini Kumar Das, BDO, Jaleswar and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/34 IPC.

It is to be noted here that on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Ashwini Kumar Das, simultaneous house searches were conducted on 18.06.2022 at 6 places in Cuttack, Balasore & Kendrapara districts by 6 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 9 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

After a thorough search, inventory and further inquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Ashwini Kumar Das, BDO, Jaleswar were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 5 Crore (approximately), which is 450% higher than his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
