Jagatsinghpur: Devotees scared as holy tree catches fire, take it as bad omen, watch

Jagatsinghpur: Devotees got scared after a holy tree caught fire recently in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha on Thursday. The incident took place in the premises of the famous Gorekhnath temple in the Bibhuti Khetra of Jagatsinghpur district.

As per reports, the Kalpa brukshya in the premises of the Gorekhnath temple in the Bibhuti Khetra caught fire. People worship this tree by tying a holy ribbon called ‘dhaagaa’ in its branches. They also show earthen lamp during the worship. They do ‘manasika’ by performing these rituals. However, this holy tree, which is worshipped by the devotees caught fire for which they have taken it as a bad omen.

It was believed that while showing lamp to the tree, due to lack of proper care the tree might caught fire.

After the said tree caught fire, devotees within some time managed to douse the flames. However, in the meanwhile the holy bangles that had been tied to the branches fell down while the half burnt holy flag also fell. Hence, the devotees scared believing it to be an inauspicious happening.

A few people also thought there might be some mistake in the ritual or worship for which the incident occurred.

On the other hand the main priest of the temple Dillip Kumar Panda said that this might have taken place due to negligence or by not taking proper precaution.
