Irani Patra case: Court allows 2-day remand of blackmailer and her husband

Bhubaneswar: Lady blackmailer Irani Patra and her husband Nishikant Patra or Bapi will be taken on remanded for two days from Tuesday.

It is worth mentioning that, while the Tamando police had applied for five days remand, the court allowed two days remand. So far, five people have been arrested in the Irani honey trap case.

In the Irani Patra case, yet another interesting fact has come to light, she used to wear masks and make nude video calls. According to reliable sources, she was an active member on adult dating sites. Irani used to make regular video calls to rich businessmen and politicians, said reports.

She use to then screen-record these video calls and use them as blackmailing tools to extract money from these people.

Irani Patra used to introduce herself as a television actress while placing these nude video calls, said reliable reports.

It is further worth mentioning that, Irani had a phone worth Rs. 1.5 lakh using which she called her customers to honeytrap them. During the calls she was seen drinking liquor at various occasions.

Reportedly all the details relating to her blackmailing racket will be revealed after she is taken into remand by the police.

The Tamando police is all set to take her husband Nishikant Patra into remand and question him relating to the details of the entire crime racket. The police had asked for a five-day remand of the accused in the Bhubaneswar SDJM court, said latest reports.

The police is further searching for the device containing the entire video footage of sexual encounters between the accused Irani and her customers.

The Call Detail Record (CDR) of five of the accused arrested till date in the Irani Patra case is being looked into by the police. The bank account transactions of the accused are also being investigated, a letter has been written to the bank in this regard.

It is noteworthy that the entire act came to light when, Irani Patra on September 8 made a phone call to the victim doctor and asked him to go to her rented house located at City homes, Duplex No 61, under Tamando PS saying that she needs medical help in emergency.

After the doctor reached at house of Irani Patra at about 11 PM, Irani her husband Bapi and another two persons namely Ganesh and Girija suddenly locked him and confined him in a room.

They demanded an amount of 25 lakh rupees by showing him a knife and assaulted by means of slaps and fist blows and forcibly took away his car key, gold bracelet and mobile phone.

Irani and the doctor knew each other when she had gone to the Madhuban Primary Health Centre as a patient. The victim was the medical officer of the health centre. Till now as many as six people have already been arrested in this connection.
