Rourkela: Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation for the much awaited second bridge on river Brahmani at Balughat ground here today.
Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, along with Rourkela legislator Dilip Ray and BJP State president Basant Panda, were present on the occasion.
Notably, the administration had beefed-up security in the area keeping in view of the visit of the Union Ministes after Rourkela SP reviewed the arrangements yesterday.
The second bridge on Brahmani, estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 476 crores, was necessitated by the dilapidated condition of the first bridge on it erected during the 60’s. The new bridge will have six lanes providing hassle-free communication between Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Biramitrapur.
Gadkari, who will also attend the bhoomi-pujan of the four-lane Biramitrpur-Barkot National Highway, is scheduled to return to Angul today afternoon.
