Cuttack: Two-time MLA and the former Odisha Health Minister in the Biju Patnaik government in the 1990s Sayed Mustafiz Ahmed passed away here this morning following a prolonged illness. He was under treatment at a private hospital in the city.
He was 76 at the time of his death.
Ahmed was under treatment at the Shifa Hospital here for neurological ailments for the last several months and had a brain stroke.
He was a popular leader and was very intimately involved with socio cultural life in the Millennium City.
BJD MLA Debasish Samantray and Congress leader Md Mokim were among the many people who visited the hospital following the death of Ahmed and paid their last respects to the departed soul. .
People from various walks of life and leaders across party lines condoled the death of the veteran leader.
