Former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi to join BJP at New Delhi today

New Delhi: Former Odisha cadre IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi who is all set to start his new career as a politician will join Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) at party president Amit Shah’s residence here today.

As per the report, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP’s Odisha President Basant Panda and In-Charge Arun Singh will remain present during the induction of Sarangi into the saffron party fold.

Sarangi will visit Odisha tomorrow soon after her joining the party, informed BJP’s state unit.

Notably, Sarangi took voluntary retirement as a public servant recently to start his new journey.

Sarangi’s application under Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) had been accepted by the Odisha Government on November 14 after being submitted on September 15. She had completed her tenure as Joint Secretary of MGNREGA under Ministry of Rural Development in August this year.

Sarangi, a 1994-batch IAS officer, got widespread acclamation in the state for her bold measures as the BMC Commissioner from 2006 to 2009. She also worked as School and Mass Education Secretary, Director of Panchayati Raj Department, Higher Education Secretary along with Textiles and Handloom Secretary.
