DRDO’s new generation AKASH Missile’s flight test conducted successfully in Odisha, Watch
The flight test of the new generation AKASH missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITS) has been successfully conducted in Odisha.
Balasore: The flight test of the new generation AKASH missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITS) has been successfully conducted at Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the flight test against a high-speed unmanned aerial target at very low altitude. In the flight test, the target was successfully intercepted by the weapon system and destroyed.
“It has validated the functioning of the complete weapon system consisting of the missile with indigenously developed Radio Frequency Seeker, Launcher, Multi-Function Radar and Command, Control & Communication system”, the DRDO officials said.
The flight test was conducted in the presence of senior officials from DRDO, Indian Air Force (IAF), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
As per the official reports, the AKASH-NG system is state-of-the-art missile system capable of intercepting high-speed, agile aerial threats.
Following the successful flight test, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has appreciated the DRDO, IAF, PSUs and the industry. While complementing, the minister said that the successful development of the system will further enhance the air defence capabilities of the country.
